A note from Brandon: I've played guitar for around 30 years and began repairing/assembling them about 15 years ago. I first became interested in building pedals after removing a Catalinbread Teaser Stallion circuit board from its enclosure to build it into the body of a Les Paul. Immediately hooked, two days later I built a Fuzz Factory into a Flying V style guitar. I eventually started purchasing pedal clones to teach myself how to populate circuit boards.
As a 9-5er, I was devoting many mornings, nights, and weekends analyzing guitar pedals and digging into guitar pedal history and culture. After many long nights of studying pedal schematics and surviving the occasional existential crises one endures while living in the Midwest, Sketchy Sounds was born.
Whether it’s an out-of-production clone or a Sketchy Sounds original, it gives me great satisfaction to create quality products that won’t break the bank. As a fellow musician from Wisconsin who still has a healthy appreciation for microwaveable ramen, I know the value of a dollar.
Here’s to affordable, hand built guitar pedals, and more loud music. Stay sketchy.
